Skate Winnipeg - Annual General Meeting
15 April, 2012 - Dakota Community Centre - 5:00pm
You are invited (and encouraged) to attend Skate Winnipeg's Annual General Meeting.
This is a fun 'casual' event that consists of a pot-luck supper, and awards ceremony.
Following the awards we will have a brief meeting followed by the election of our Executive Committee for next year’s skating season. This is the best time to bring to our attention any ideas that you may have for improving our club for our skaters. Or, better yet, join our Executive and really make an impact! We do have quite a few positions coming vacant, or due for renewal this year, so please consider spending a few extra hours per month, helping your club become the best that it can be ... why not become an Executive member of the largest skating club in the province!

Welcome Back to the Second Half of our Season!
Our classes are well underway for 2012, so we would like to bring you up to date on what the Club’s events will be from now till the end of the season.
Our Semi-annual Ice Show will be held at the Eric Coy Arena on Thursday March 22/2012.
All of our Skate Winnipeg members will be spotlighted in our event entitled “Musical Memories”, as always the skaters will be delighted to skate for Family members, friends and most importantly for the fun and joy of skating.
Our coaches are working on the music, choreography and simple costume ideas for each group. Please look for the notes that will be coming home shortly with your skaters.
Tickets for this event will be made available for purchase at the sessions that your children attend near the end of February. This will give you time to ask your family and friends who would like to attend. It’s the one time of the season where you will see skaters from the Pre-School age up to our highly competitive skaters come together to treat us to some Wonderful Musical Momories, as well as showcase some really fun times.
Beginning the second or third week of February the skaters will be learning their numbers as they continue to learn new skating skills that will be implemented in their show numbers. We ask that the skaters have good attendance during these times so that they may all learn toghether.
As always events such as this takes a great amount of planning as well as assistance the evening of the show. If you are available to help us out please email us at info@skatewinnipeg.ca, we will be pleased to fill you in on jobs that would suit you.
Of course the Star and Competitive skaters will be competing a few more times before the close of our winter season. The dates are Feb 17-19, for the Manitoba Open Competition in Stonewall and the StarSkate Championships on March 2-4 in Winkler. On March 23-25 the Heros on Ice Competition will be held at the Stony Mountain Area. Our next Test day will be on March 17th at the Eric Coy Arena, this is a Low test day previous to this is the High test day at the Century Arena on March 11th. So, lots to prepare for in the next few months.
Skate Winnipeg Spring School has been extended to 8 weeks for the Star and Competitive skaters as well as for CanSkate and Rising Stars. Our PreSchool skaters will have their 5 week program during the regular winter school sessions that are currently being held at the Dakota Community Centre. The brochure will be on the Website in the next week. We are hoping to have the registartion online to make it easier for all to sign-up. Remember, our programs are sold on a first come first serve basis, so keep an eye on the Skate Winnipeg Website. We have a Special Feature for the month of April for the Star and Competitive skaters who register for full sessions this spring. Christopher Mabee will be available to teach Private lessons. Please watch for more information on how to have a chance to be a part of his lesson times.
Many Thanks, Happy Skating!
